6th Grade Standards:
Hello!
This month in 6th grade we are:
Reviewing for GMAS
Students need to bring:
3-5 different colored highlighters each day.
Pencils or pens each day.
Sticky notes (preferably clear but regular is also fine)
Students are highly encouraged to purchase a SAIL agenda for $5 to keep up with assignments and due dates.
Homework:
Students are encouraged to read at home and work on IXL.
6th Grade Month of March
Hello!
This month in 6th grade we are:
Reading "Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library"
We are annotating as we read "Notice & Note Signposts", vocabulary, allusions and foreshadowing.
Students need to bring:
3-5 different colored highlighters each day.
Pencils or pens each day.
Sticky notes (preferably clear but regular is also fine)
Students are highly encouraged to purchase a SAIL agenda for $5 to keep up with assignments and due dates.
Homework:
Students are encouraged to read at home as they have their own personal copy of the book.
6th Grade Month of January/ February.
Hello!
This month in 6th grade we are:
Working on a new textbook unit with Lenses on Literature from Carnegie Learning.
We are on Unit 3 and will be reading "The Party" by Pam Munoz Ryan and "The Outside Influence of Your Middle School Friends" as our anchor texts.
In addition we will be reading "Social Interaction is Critical for Mental and Physical Health" by Jane E.. Brody
Students will be reading texts multiple times and annotating for understanding.
Students need to bring:
3-5 different colored highlighters each day.
Pencils or pens each day.
Sticky notes (preferably clear but regular is also fine)
Students are highly encouraged to purchase a SAIL agenda for $5 to keep up with assignments and due dates.
Homework:
Students are encouraged to read for 20 minutes per night and complete IXL skills.
6th Grade Month of November
Hello!
This month in 6th grade we are:
Learning how to keep a reader response notebook/journal.
Working on time management to complete assignments on time.
Reading short stories to understand how to write.
Participate in National Novel Writing Month
Students will complete reader response journal entries as they read the short stories.
Students need to bring:
3-5 different colored highlighters each day.
Pencils or pens each day.
Sticky notes (preferably clear but regular is also fine)
Homework:
Students are encouraged to read for 20 minutes per night and complete IXL skills recommended.

September/ October
This month in 6th grade we are:
Learning how to keep a reader response notebook/journal.
Working on time management to complete assignments on time.
Reading the novel Holes : September 4-6 ch 20-28, September 9-13 ch. 29-50
The week of September 16 we are planning to watch the movie and complete a 5-paragraph compare and contrast essay. (Permission slips for the movie will go out the week prior).
Students will complete reader response journal entries as they read the novel. Each week they will also have activities relate to a group of chapters assigned in Canvas.
Students need to bring:
3-5 different colored highlighters each day.
Pencils or pens each day.

Ch. 10- 21, August 26-30; Ch. 22-30, September 4-6; Ch. 31-45, September 9-13; Ch. 45-50, September 16-20.
